This is not a complete list, but simply a guideline to help avoid common dangers.
Please do your own research about what is safe and what is harmful for your pet!

Remember, our pets are just like people - different things will make them have
different reactions. Err on the side of caution, and keep your pets away from
anything that may be harmful!
Common Dangers to Pets
  • Antifreeze - many dogs and cats like the sweet taste. If consumed, antifreeze can kill in small
quantities. Look for an antifreeze labeled "Pet Safe."
  • Cocoa mulch can be toxic if ingested. Do not use in your yard if you leave your pets outside
    unsupervised.
  • Certain lawn and garden chemicals can be toxic if pets ingest them or if they lick them off of their feet.
Use only non-toxic items on your lawn and garden, or keep pets out of those areas.
  • Use only Pet Safe de-icing materials. Plain salt can irritate your pet's paws, and other chemicals can
be toxic if your pet licks it's paws. Clean your pet's feet thoroughly after being outside.
  • Many heart worm preventative and flea and tick products that are made for your pet can cause them
to have a reaction. Only give your pet these products when you are going to be home with them for a
few hours to monitor their reaction. Even using the same product for years does not guarantee that
your pet will develop a reaction to it.
