| Apollo is a stunning young dog with a bright future. A gorgeous show prospect, he had unlimited potential until we realized that he had developed high toe on his front foot. Although this is only a cosmetic problem and doesn't limit the dog physically in any way, it is not something desirable to include in a breeding program. The decision to neuter Apollo was an easy one. Although we firmly believe he's an improvement of his sire (we always said we wanted a smaller version of Simon, and Apollo fits the bill nicely!) it would not be ethical to breed a dog with a serious fault of the breed standard. While it was upsetting to realize that Apollo would have to be removed from our breeding program, the decision to keep him in our life was an easy one. This little guy has had us wrapped around his high-toed paw since birth, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Gorgeous to look at and extremely lovable, he has a precocious personality with a hint of mischief in his eye. A social butterfly, he enjoys playing with all of our other dogs both at home and at daycare. He is a very special and athletic boy. |
