What's New: Happy Birthday, Simon! 1/14/09 I can't believe it - our little Simon turned 1 year old yesterday! He had a very fun birthday, it started with part of a freshly cooked steak for breakfast! He spent his day playing with all of his friends at daycare, and finished up his day working in our obedience & agility class. He finished the rest of his steak for supper, and thanks to a suggestion from his Auntie Lisa (from Ocean State Jacks) he had desert of a Frosty Paw, complete with candle! Here are some pictures to enjoy (he actually looks like he is making a wish!)

Happy New Year - 1/01/09 - The Birth of the RavenWolf Website! We wish you the best that 2009 has to offer! Below are some pictures of Simon in our New Year's Eve snowstorm we had! He didn't seem to mind the snow a bit! But watching it from his window perch is pretty fun, too!

What's New: Our new addition!!! 2/2/09 We are very proud to introduce Sea Dog Calypso!! Calypso is adjusting to life just fine! She is a lovely puppy, by the newly-bronzed medallion Little Eden Chiller aka "Vinnie" and out of Kimberwicke Fluffnutter (Kimberwicke Remix x Kimberwicke Pandora of Sea Dog.) With this pedigree and her adorable looks, we are hoping for great things from her!!!!!!!!!!! Look for her this show season! Simon, Gilly, and our Corgi Monty just adore her, and so do we! Thanks Denise!!!

What's New: Our Handsome Simon and Calypso Gets Big! 2/9/09 The weather finally cooperated and we were able to get some great shots of Simon for his registration! He is such a handsome guy!!!!! Little Sea Dog Calypso is getting big - 7 3/4" inches tall at 9 weeks of age...and a whopping 4.8 lbs!

Simon Says: "Does Calypso's shirt make me look fat?"
What's New: 2/24/09 Our fun weekend! Despite the rain and wind, Simon had a blast running the lure at "Uncle Dave & Aunt Lisa's" house this weekend! He must have run it 12 times without getting tired.....guess he has a lot of stamina built up from running at daycare all day, every day! :) He had the best time - for the past two nights he's woken us up (as he sleeps under the covers) kicking us as he runs in his sleep...... Little Sea Dog Calypso is doing great - she ran the lure, too! Not afraid at all at 11 weeks! Here are some new Calypso pictures - she grows more beautiful every day!!!!!

What's New: 3/9/09 - a Family Reunion, and Shamrock is a Superstar! Well, things are getting exciting around here! Simon got his JRTCA registration number! Calypso turned 13 weeks, and is just stunning. We are so enjoying her little punky attitude and her strut. She is so full of herself, just the way a JRT pup should be! Denise visited with Calypso's sister, Treasure as well as two pups from another litter, Pirate Pete and Survivor. All the pups had fun playing in our playgroup with the big dogs!!! It was so cute! Calypso remembered Denise and was SO happy to see her!!! She wanted D to hold her the entire time! Kimberwicke Shamrock (owned by our good friends Lisa & Dave Benoit) attended the Texas Two Step trial this weekend in Texas. Lisa called to say that on Saturday Shammy won BEST OPEN TERRIER! WOW! She also won her groundhog class both days, and was the Best Open Bitch on Sunday. GO SHAMMY - You superstar!!!!!
What's New: 3/19/09 - Happy Birthday Gillian & More Calypso Pictures! Gillan turned 11 years old on St. Patrick's Day! She celebrated in style, accompaning her "momma Jen" in the truck on dog walks all day, and eating her very own plain McDonald's Cheeseburger. She's the best! Our little Calypso will be 15 weeks old on Saturday the 21st - she is becoming more beautiful every day.

Gillian says "too much McDonalds!"

What's New: 4/21/09 Our First Trial of the Season! YIPEE! The Trial Season has Begun!!!!! We had a blast at the Northgate Terrier Tune-Up this weekend! Here are some of the highlights: Sea Dog Calypso participated in family class, and her sire Little Eden Chiller earned a Best Family Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was also crowned RESERVE BEST 4-6 month old PUPPY!!!!!! Congrats to our friends from Hunter's Glen with Ripley for being named 4-6 month Puppy Champion! Way to go, Rip!!! Simon raced very well, and made it to the Semi-Finals all weekend! He took 2nd in his Open Conformation Class, and 2nd in Suitability to Raccoon/Badger. Everyone placed well in GTG, Simon & Gillian moved up to Open Adult, and Gillian had fun in the Barn/Brush hunt! Now, all our terriers are VERY TIRED!!!
What's New 4/27/09: The Trial Season has BEGUN! We made the 8-hour drive to Maryland this weekend to go to the Mason-Dixon Terrier Trial. The weather was HOT (felt more like August, than April!) but we all survived! Here are some of the highlights: Sea Dog Calypso stood like a champ in conformation - earning lovely comments from both judges about her conformation and her behavior. Both judges prefer a more stretchy look, as Calypso is short and stocky, but she still did well, earning 4th place on Saturday and 2nd place Sunday. Simon was a true gentleman in the ring, behaving himself very well (despite the heat, and the fact that he was exhausted from racing & lure coursing!) and earned a 3rd place and 6th place in adult conformation, and a 3rd place and 4th place in Suitability class. We are so proud of him! He raced like a champ and took 2nd in flats and 3rd in hurdles BOTH DAYS! He took 4th in lure coursing on Saturday, and beat his time by a full 4 seconds to take 2nd on Sunday. What a fast guy!!! Congrats to Denise from Sea Dog Terriers - Kimberwicke Jack Daniels was Sunday's GTG CHAMP!! Little Sea Dog Survivor (who almost died at birth and was not given a good chance at survival - which is how she earned her name!) was the RESERVE BEST PUPPY on SUNDAY!!! WOW!

Calypso at 4 1/2 months old!
What's New 5/18/09 - The Yankee Jack Russell Terrier Club Trial We had a blast, and the Ravenwolf JRTs (and Corgi) represented themselves well this weekend! I am the most proud of Simon (Kimberwicke American Idol's) AWESOME job in Sunday's Open Adult Conformation Ring. With competition that would make any National Trial Dog class J-E-A-L-O-U-S, he still earned 2nd place - GO SIMON! He is just too handsome for words! He also managed to squeeze his big frame through the long tunnel this weekend and earn a crazy score of 4 seconds through the long tunnel. Not bad for a 14" dog's first time in!!!!! Simon also behaved himself for the first time in the agility ring - earning a 3rd place in his first time competing on full-size agility equipment! We are just so proud of him. Simon proves himself again and again as an all-around, very versatile terrier. He races (and made it into Semi-finals - finishing 4th in his semi-final heats in both flats and hurdles), does GTG, Lure Courses, places high in conformation, does agility, and everything else we ask of him. He is our one-in-a-million dog!!!!! Sea Dog Calypso participated in family class again with her daddy (Little Eden Chiller) and they won Reserve Family on Saturday, and Best Family on Sunday! She placed very high in conformation, and placed 2nd in GTG both days. Good little hunter!
What's New 6/24/09 - Simon is the Best New England Bred Dog! AND Calypso is the Reserve Best 6-12 month Bitch Pup! Our terriers did very well this past weekend at the Russell Rescue & Huntington Hunt Trial! Calypso won her bitch puppy class, and was crowned reserve bitch pup at only 6.5 months old! She is just gorgeous, with a lovely true-terrier attitude to boot! We adore her! Simon was crowned the Best New England Bred Dog, placed 3rd in conformation, 3rd in suitability, won toolbox class (with Bailey & Shammy helping!), and placed 2nd in toolbox on Sunday (with Vinnie & Bella helping!) Simon is excelling in Adult Championship GTG - I can't believe such a big dog can be so fast in the tunnels! He placed 6th place in Rat Hunt - his first time doing that event....he's just a natural! Sea Dog Calypso participated in family class again with her daddy (Little Eden Chiller) and they won Best Family on Sunday!
What's New 7/17/09 - Simon is Suitable for Raccoon! We've had a very busy past few weeks here - we went down to Breezewood for their Sunday trial at the end of June. The dogs did great - Simon WON his flat racing class and placed 3rd in hurdles. He also placed very high in GTG. He was the 3rd overall Junior Terrier for the weekend - and we only went to the Sunday trial! We couldn't show in conformation because his breeder, Joyce Robin was judging. Calypso, however, showed in conformation at took 4th place out of all the puppies (dogs and bitches, all coat types) and took 2nd place in GTG and did great in Barn Hunt! This past weekend (7/11 & 12) we went back down to Breezewood for the sanctioned Liberty Bell Trial. Again, our Simon proved that he is truly a well-rounded and exceptional terrier. His first time in the Rally-O ring proved him exceeding expectations (as we've never schooled him in Rally) by earning 5th place. He also earned 5th place in Sub-Novice obedience. All of this with the racetrack (his favorite thing) clearly visible! Simon also placed high in conformation and suitability to raccoon on Saturday and WON his raccoon suitability class on Sunday. With fast times in lure coursing, ribbons in GTG & Barn Hunt, Simon just excels at everything! Calypso did great in conformation, GTG, and Barn Hunt as well. Gillian ribboned in veterans lure coursing both days. We are having so much fun with our terriers!
August 12th, 2009 - New Calypso Pictures and Our First Hunting Trip!!! Our little Calypso is now 8 1/2 months old....I can't believe it! Here are some new pictures of her - she's still adorable and gorgeous......and feisty as ever! :) I took Kimberwicke American Idol (Simon) to New York with our good friend Lisa Benoit and her dog Kimberwicke Shamrock to go out hunting with Michelle Ward from Little Eden Jack Russells this past weekend. Now, Shamrock is a seasoned hunter (she earned her NHC to groundhog last month) and this was Simon's first time in the field. He learned very quickly, and with Sham as a great teacher, he soon started disappearing down holes, digging out the groundhog's nest, and showing all the natural instinct and drive we could hope for! The day progressed and Simon grew stronger and stronger as a hunter - after lunch we hunted him with one of Michelle's seasoned working dogs, and even though the day turned up no quarry, the experience was wonderful and both Simon and myself learned a lot!!!!! Michelle was a gracious host and a wonderful teacher in the field. We look forward to our next trip out!

September 8th, 2009 - HAPPY 10 YEARS, NORTHGATE TRIAL! We attended the 10th anniversary trial of the Fall Northgate Terrier Trials this past weekend. What a wonderful time! The weather was perfect, and all the terriers had a great weekend! :) Our RavenWolf Terriers did not disappoint, with Simon being Mr. Consistent and taking home 3rd place in conformation both days under two different judges. The quality of dogs showing in conformation would make any Nationals Trial jealous! Just some gorgeous dogs this weekend! Simon WON his Suitability to Raccoon class Sunday and took 2nd place on Saturday. He also tried SuperEarth for the first time - HE LOVED IT! Took 4th place on Sunday, only his second time in Super Earth! We also tried Trailing & Locating for the first time as an adult, and he didn't disappoint. He placed well and will be a force to reckon with in the future. Calypso had a great time, placing well in conformation and barn hunt both days. She turned 9 months old at this trial, and every time I look at her I can't believe how nicely she's turned out. We are quite lucky to have her! She will stay an "under" and has topped out around 12 1/4" inches, just perfect in our mind. We are look forward to breeding her with Simon in a few years and having the first litter of RavenWolf puppies!
October 6th, 2009 - The Jack Russell Terrier Club of Canada NATIONAL TRIAL Wow!!!! That's all I have to say about Canada! The club put on a wonderful trial and everyone had a really good time. Our dogs were unbelievable - especially Simon! Simon won his Suitability to Raccoon/Badger class, his open tall dog conformation class, and his foreign bred dog class. And if those honors weren't enough (against the tough competition that was there!) he went on to be crowned BEST FOREIGN BRED TERRIER and RESERVE BEST OPEN DOG!!! WOOO HOOOO ! Go Simon! He did great in his performance events as well, taking home 3rd place in hurdle racing, 5th place in flat racing, 3rd place in adult lure coursing, and 4th place in adult trailing & locating. Calypso didn't disappoint - taking 3rd in puppy conformation and 3rd in puppy barn hunt! The best news that we came home to were the results on the PLL testing we did for both Simon & Calypso. We are very excited to say that Simon has tested CLEAR for the genetic defect of PLL that results in lens luxation and blindness. This means that he will never pass the PLL gene on when he is bred, and he will never suffer from PLL. Calypso is a CARRIER for PLL - meaning that she has the chance of passing on the carrier gene, but she will never suffer from PLL. Because she will only be bred to a stud dog that has been tested CLEAR from PLL, there is no chance any of her offspring will ever have PLL. Simon was bred to Kimberwicke Shamrock - puppies will arrive around Thanksgiving! Needless to say, we are SUPER EXCITED for Simon's first litter!!!!

Simon says: "Canada is Exhausting!"
October 20th, 2009 - The Jack Russell Terrier Club of America NATIONAL TRIAL Despite the miserable weather, we had a blast at the 2009 Nationals! We traveled down with our good friend and employee Kate, and she worked her butt off in our vendor tent selling our products. Due to scheduling conflicts, and having to run our vendor booth, we couldn't do as many classes as we'd hoped. My big disappointment was missing Simon's Suitability to Raccoon/Badger class, due to a long line in SuperEarth and a dog getting stuck before us! We ran down just as the class was being decided, and I don't think I'll ever get over the disappointment! Simon has been undefeated in this event over the last three trials, including the very difficult competition we faced at Northgate, Liberty Bell, and the Canadian National Trial. I was really hoping to win this event this year, but we will have to wait for the 2010 National Trial. Boo hoo! We made up for it with our strong 2nd place in Toolbox class (thanks Lisa & Alan!!!) which softened the blow just a little bit! :) Simon and Calypso held their own in performance events - earning a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in Lure Coursing over the weekend. Hooray! Simon earned a strong 3rd place in Barn Hunt - out of 71 dogs!!!!!!
December 1st, 2009 - THE PUPPIES ARE HERE! We traveled down to the Sunshine State Trial in Florida last month, and it was great to meet new people and show our dogs under different judges! Kimberwicke American Idol (aka "Simon") continued in his winning ways, winning his suitability to raccoon/badger class, his open 12.5" - 15" r/br conformation class, and finishing strong in barn hunt & thunder tunnel on Saturday. Sunday he placed 2nd in suitability and conformation, and finished 4th place in thunder tunnel. Calypso did well - we just started allowing her to lure course, and she was reserve puppy champion in lure coursing!! WOW! She also won her puppy conformation class Saturday, and was 2nd on Sunday. The most exciting news, however, was the birth of Kimberwicke Shamrock (owned by Lisa & Dave Benoit) x Simon's PUPPIES! Simon was bred to Shamrock in September, and the puppies were born exactly on time. Shamrock is the perfect bitch to carry Simon's first litter - we couldn't have asked for a better female to be bred to Simon! Shamrock has everything that we love, the Kimberwicke "look", the sweet and laid-back personality, and an impeccable show record. Not to mention, this little darling has earned her NHC to groundhog, won at a National Level, and has already proven herself in the breeding shed. Her daughter, Ocean State Clover, has won numerous championships in conformation and GTG. All in all, Simon x Shammy puppies are ones to look out for! There were 3 in the litter, 2 boys and a girl. All of the puppies were 5-6 oz at birth and are very healthy. They were whelped 11/28/09 and are all nicely-marked tri-colors - just like their daddy! :) Already, it is obvious that this litter is very consistent in type, bone, coats, and color. Watch out for these pups in 2010!
