| Canine Good Citizen (CGC) & Therapy Dog Prep Class |
| All dogs, including purebred and mixed breeds are welcome to participate in the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program. The CGC is a 10-part test given by a CGC evaluator. The test focuses on good manners, and polite behavior by your dog in public situations. Dogs of all ages are eligible to take the CGC test. The CGC is the beginning step toward doing Therapy Work with your dog. Most Therapy Dog Organizations feel that if your dog has demonstrated the good manners required to achieve a passing score on the CGC that they are ready to proceed to the additional training required of a Therapy Dog. In our CGC and Therapy Dog Prep Class, we will work both the 10 parts of the CGC test as well as Therapy Dog exercises with the dog/handler team. If after the class session you feel your dog is ready to take the CGC test, one of our evaluators will be able to schedule an appointment for you and your dog.
