| Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Information |
| All dogs, including purebred and mixed breeds are welcome to participate in the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program. There is no age limit for the CGC test. A dog is never too old to be a good citizen. Puppies who have completed all immunizations and boosters may be tested, however, because we know that behavior and temperament can change over time, when puppies under 1 year old pass the CGC test, owners should have them re-tested as adults. If your dog doesn't pass the CGC, you can re-take it with no penalty. |
| The Canine Good Citizen Test is a ten-part test focusing on basic manners and communication between dog and handler. In order to receive their CGC, a dog must pass all 10 parts of the CGC test.
